What about Insurance?
All services at our Individual Matters are private pay only. Families often ask why we made this change, and the answer is simple: we want to provide the most accurate, helpful, and ethical support possible without the barriers and limitations of insurance. Insurance companies require a formal mental health diagnosis in order to bill, even when a child’s challenges are academic, developmental, or related to learning differences rather than a mental health disorder. In addition, insurance plans frequently do not cover psycho-educational services such as learning evaluations, academic support, school consultations, or parent guidance.
Unfortunately, families are often told by their insurance companies that these services will be covered, only to discover later—sometimes after months of effort—that claims are denied. Providers experience this same issue: insurance representatives may initially confirm coverage, yet the claim is ultimately rejected with no clear explanation. These denials create stress, delays, and unexpected costs for families, which is exactly what we want to avoid.
By operating as private pay, we can focus entirely on high-quality care, transparent pricing, and services tailored to your child’s needs—not the insurance company’s requirements. To learn more about the pros and cons of using insurance to pay for an evaluation, check out our blog post, “Insurance vs. Private Pay.”
